Services

As a birth doula, I accompany women in labour to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience whether it's in a hospital or home setting. I am a DONA Certified Birth Doula and I have also completed HypnoBirthing Techniques for Doulas, taught by Jennifer Elliot. I provide emotional support and physical comfort during labour and, ensure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labour. I provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labour progress and help with relaxation through massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital.

I will meet with you once for a no obligation initial consultation. If you would like to invite me to attend your birth, what you can expect from me is outlined below

Labour and Birth Support ($800)

We will have at least two prenatal visits to discuss some of the following issues, and anything else you would like to share:

  • your pregnancy and prenatal care
  • your feelings surrouding your birth — fears, wants, etc.
  • the labour and birth environment
  • preparation of birth preferences
  • labour management techniques through movement and relaxation
  • answering some "what ifs"
  • how you both foresee your partner's role, needs and feelings

I am available for phone or email questions from the day that we agree to work together. I will be on call for you 24/7 from 38 weeks of your pregnancy until your baby is born.

When you are in labour

I will come to you when you feel you need my support, at which point we will decide where to meet. I aim to be with you within one hour of receiving your call and will then remain with you throughout labour and birth. Following the birth I will stay with you for one to three hours after your baby is born, providing any assistance you need with feeding, and until you are comfortable and your family is ready for some quiet time together.

Postpartum

After your baby is born, I will visit you in your home two times in the first two weeks of your baby's life. I will assist you with questions and concerns about breastfeeding, newborn care, physical recovery and emotional adjustments, including postpartum depression. We can discuss your birth and I can answer any questions related to your experience. I will be available by phone 24/7 for the two weeks following your birth for phone discussions. If you would like additional support postpartum, I can offer my assistance for $20/hr.
